How to dry towels and bedding outside properly

Heavy loads need airflow. The goal is to expose as much surface area as possible and avoid thick, folded damp zones.

Pegging and spacing

  • Leave gaps - towels need air on both sides.
  • Avoid folding over a line/rail; use two lines if possible.
  • Hang duvet covers so the inner layer isn’t stuck together.

Turn and reshape

  • Flip thick items halfway through.
  • Shake seams and corners out (they trap moisture).
  • If it’s breezy, face items into the wind.

Avoid the classic mistake

If towels feel “surface dry” but smell damp later, the inside never finished. Bring them in before evening dampness and finish indoors with airflow.
