Plain-English info about what we store on your device, optional analytics, and the basic terms for using the site.

Privacy
We use your place to fetch a weather forecast and calculate a car-wash verdict. We do not ask for your name, run user accounts, or sell your personal data.
Location
You type a town or postcode (or use current location) so we can look up a forecast. When you search, coordinates are sent to our forecast provider. We do not store a search history on our servers.
Saved home (website)
If you tap Save as home, your browser stores that place under car:home-place so the site can reopen your forecast on return visits. That stays on your device — we do not receive it as a profile on our servers.
Saved places and reminders (Android app)
The mobile app may keep saved places and reminder settings on your phone. Uninstalling the app clears local data.
Optional background alerts (Android app)
If you turn on background alerts in the app, we may store a small server record (push token, device type, saved home coordinates, alert preferences) so we can notify you when conditions look worth flagging. We use that only for alerts you requested. Turn alerts off in the app or email us to request deletion.
Analytics
On the website, if you choose Accept analytics in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics (GA4) (G-3HPD5E5FFE) to understand traffic and basic interactions. If you choose Reject analytics, we do not load those scripts.
The Android app may send coarse usage signals (for example which screen opened and app build version). We do not include your place name or coordinates in those events when configured for privacy.
Your choices
You can clear saved home by removing site data in your browser, or reject analytics in the cookie banner. Device location and notification permissions are controlled in your phone settings.

Terms
Forecasts are probabilistic. Use the verdict as practical guidance, not a guarantee of a spot-free finish. You are responsible for checking the sky and your driveway conditions.
What this service is
Can I Wash My Car? provides weather-based car-washing guidance on the web and in the mobile app. It is information, not a promise of results.
No promises
We do not promise your wash will stay clean, or that it will not rain five minutes later. Showers can be hyper-local. Microclimates exist. Also: British weather.
Availability and changes
We may change, pause, or remove features at any time to improve reliability, safety, or product quality.
